Akshay Kumar’s PadMan released on Friday with rare reviews coming its way for the unusual storyline. However, just two days into its release, the R.Balki directorial seems to be mired in a controversy. According to Bollywood Hungama, a young writer named Ripu Daman Jaiswal has reportedly filed a complaint against Akshay Kumar and PadMan producers for plagiarism. Ripu Daman shared a series of emails in which he shared his copy of the story which is with Dharma Productions. After the trailer came out, he had shared the screenshots and narrated the story about the emails sent to Ryan Stephen at Dharma Productions.
He had even mentioned that he had filed an FIR but had no money for a lawyer in this scenario. He pointed out the similarities between his script and the film.
Ripu Daman in his tweets claimed that 11 scenes were copied from his script. He even shared the screenshot of his own script. “11 scenes have been copied from his script until now and even one of the character. That’s it. I am definitely going to court,” he had tweeted.
Meanwhile, Ripu Daman had posted about PadMan around two months back on his Facebook account. “One and a half years ago, I had written and registered a film based on the works of Arunachalam Muruganantham and Saati biodegradable sanitary pads. Have you heard about them? Yup, Arunachalam Muruganantham is the guy who had made low cost sanitary pads for rural women. I had registered the film on 5th of December 2016 from SCREEN WRITER ASSOCIATION and sent to Ryan Stephan (Karan johar’s production – Creative head) and personally to Vikram Aditya Motwane. And you know what happened? After ten days on 16th of December 2016, I heard the news that Mrs. Twinkle Khanna revealed that her production is making a film based on his life, starring AKSHAY KUMAR,”
