China Open Badminton Tournament Ashwini’s big win over pair

Ashwini Ponnappa and Satwick Sairaj Rankki Reddy bagged the mixed doubles title at the China Open badminton tournament on Wednesday. Commonwealth Games gold medalists Marcus Elis and Lauren Smith defeated England in the pre-quarterfinals.

Ashwini and Satwick lost to the pair in the last two rounds and won 21-13, 20-22, 21-17. The tremendous walkway took about an hour and three minutes.

In the next round, India will face Jing Sihi and Hong Yakving of China.
The seventh-seeded Kidambi Srikanth defeated Rasmus Gamk of Denmark 21-9, 21-19 in men’s singles.

He made it to the quarter-finals of the pre-quarterfinals. Within the next match, he will face Thailand’s Suman AvingSanan.
In men’s doubles, Satwick and Chirag Shetty lost to Goh Shem and Tan Wei of Malaysia 19-21, 20-22. In the women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Nicci Reddy lost to South Korea’s Kim So Yang and Kong Hey Young 10-21, 18-21.
